Charleston’s Dangermuffin opened for Yonder Mountain String Band last night at Austin’s Historical Scoot Inn.

The eclectic quartet brought the energy to the stage. By their final song, a cover of The Grateful Dead, “Ripple”, the entire crowd was singing and swaying together.

Yonder played an epic set filled with unexpected covers.

The crowd was equally surprised and delighted to hear a cover of “Pretty Pimpin’” by Kurt Vile sang by Yonder’s banjo player, Dave Johnston.

My personal favorite was the enchanted cover of Dolly Parton’s “Jolene” where the violinist, Allie Kral, took the spotlight and showed off her gorgeous voice.

Aside from all the amazing covers, Yonder put on a solid performance of their beautiful original tracks.

One of my favorite moments was when they played their track, “40 Miles To Denver”.
